Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!

Welcome! I am Paul Marashian, and I am so thrilled and honored to be the principal of Herndon Barstow. After teaching at the elementary level for fifteen-plus years in a variety of districts (including Escondido, Carmel and Central) and starting my seventh year as an administrator, I am extremely excited for my 2nd year as principal of Herndon Barstow. I have loved every minute I’ve spent at this special school, especially getting to know our students and their families, and working alongside the most incredible staff imaginable. My goal is to continue connecting families to Herndon Barstow while assisting and motivating our students to reach the next level!

My many life experiences including being a father to two amazing children, husband, and coach, all combined with my passion for education, helps me meet the diverse needs of our students and families. I strive daily to help build on our school environment which is not only caring and accepting, but also empowers each student with the ability to achieve their fullest potential. This is accomplished by many things, including students feeling safe, respected, empowered, and having a positive view of school and learning.
